MSU-IIT| MR. & MISS IIT 2011| WINNERS

Filipinos are always on full force for a great cause. Beauty contests has been long present and part of our everyday life. Whether it is an international beauty contests or local contest every one are really fascinated by it and MSU-IIT is no exemption.

Last night, August 31, 2011 the search for Mr.. & Miss IIT was concluded. The show was opened by a dance number, then the contestants from different colleges appear on stage to introduce themselves to the panel of judges and to the audience. Then, they went back stage and when they came back, they were already holding the banner of the colleges that they are representing.

The audience, specifically the students of the different colleges in MSU-IIT roared hungrily as they are cheering for their respective candidates. This is very evident, as their candidates are called, it would then expectedly be followed by cheers from the students of the colleges that they are representing.

Then, the first set of special awards were given and among the first set of special awards given are the following:

Mr. Popular is Mr. SCS and Miss. Popular  is Miss SCS
Mr. Skin and Body Care: Mr. CASS and Miss Skin and Body Care: Miss CSM
Mr. College Attire: Mr. CSM and  Miss College Attire: Miss CED-IDS

The show gets exciting as the moment gets nearer for the proclamation of the winners will be in short while.

After the awarding of the special prizes, the candidates had to walk on stage for their black and white collections. However, while the candidates are at the ramp to showcase their black and white creations, suddenly there was a blackout! It was a bit disappointing though. Well, you know with people...I heard a lot of complaints...remarks...shouts and other spicy words...

For about thirty minutes, the MSU-IIT gymnasium was so dark. But somehow I was fascinated to see cellphone lights and camera lights clicking. It was like fireflies...

When the electricity came back, the candidates has to ramp again their black and white collections. Notable among the candidates while they are at the ramp are Mr. Cass, Miss CSM, Mr. CON, Miss CED-IDS and Miss COE.

It was then followed by two dance numbers, then when the candidates came back on stage they are already wearing their respective barongs and malongs for the girls.

Of course the barong and malong are used instead of fancy gowns and Americana's. After they showcase their barongs and malongs, the next was the awarding of another set of special prizes. The following are the winners.

Mr. and Miss Bodyline which goes respectively to Mr. CSM and Miss CSM
Best in Barong: Mr. CASS and Best in Malong: Miss CED-IDS
Best in High Fashion: Mr. CASS and Miss CED-IDS
Photogenic: Mr. SET and Miss CSM
Konica Smile: Mr. CON and Miss CASS

It was then followed by thrill and anxiety...as the announcement of the candidates who made to the top five followed.

In no particular order the Top 5 for the Men were:

Mr. CASS
Mr. CSM
Mr. CED-IDS
Mr. CON
Mr. SET

While the Top5 for the Women were:

Miss. CED-IDS
Miss. CASS
Miss. CSM
Miss. COE
Miss. CON

The moment of truth for the candidates for the moment to prove that they also have the brains came as the announcement of the candidates who made it to the top 5 signals the most crucial part of the pageant, the Question and Answer Portion.

I wont be telling you bit by bit on how did it goes...but to satisfy your curiosity, let me just describe what happened.

Someone was asked about his stand in the issue on MSU-IIT's move to separate from the MSU  system, but he was not able to answer...he was one of my bet...I got disappointed, but I understand...maybe the issue didn't reached his ears yet...he is a first year though. It is not an excuse but I was just justifying what happened :)

Someone was asked also about her stand in the controversial Reproductive Health RH Bill, but the judges were not able to get a satisfying answer from her.

One thing I have noticed about the answers of the candidates are somehow not sure  or certain towards their answers. Most of them, said "I think" which is for me is the greatest sin if you are to answer a question in a beauty pageant. A statement which contain this, would only mean nothing...because for me an answer with this line has no conviction and would only mean to me that the contestant knew nothing...better if you say "I believe" rather than "I think" :)

Anyway, lets get over about it! What matter is that there are those candidates who exhort their presence of mind and competent enough to prove to anybody who they are :)

Here are the glorious winners...
