MUSIC| how does it affect you?

Can you imagine life without music? No soothing lullabies. No romantic serenades. No lively pop songs. No stringy symphonies. Won’t you consider that a dull and unappealing prospect? Undeniably, music appeals to virtually the full range of human emotions. It soothes and excites us, uplifts and inspires us. It moves us to ecstasy and reduces us to tears. It has power because; music speaks straight to our hearts”.

I can’t imagine life without music, there should be music, because music is the only thing that inspires me when I am down. How boring it should be if we watch movies without background music. How can we shed tears, how can we relate to the message that the movie is conveying to the viewers? Evidently, music plays a very important role in our lives.

At present, music is available to millions at the touch of a button or the click of a mouse; you can even hear music while you are just walking on the street, on the jeepney or while you are in the mall. Indeed, all forms of it can be downloaded or recorded and played on devices that can be slipped into your pocket.

Different types of people have different music preference. This may be the reason why parents and teens often clash over music. Taste or preference to music may change as people grow older. Moreover, music itself changes. What is popular today may be out of style tomorrow. Definitely, music influences us. Have you noticed how music affects your emotions?

In some ways, songs can be like the people we associate with. Some bring out our positive emotions such as happiness and love. Others dredge up bad feelings, such as anger and hatred. Since, music exerts such a powerful influence, are we wise enough to be selective in the music we listen to? Do you set standards on what music you should listen? Or simply you don’t care at all?

Many songs have innocent lyrics, but others, either subtly or openly, approve of or even promote behavior that violates wholesome values. Indeed, some musical genres are known for depravity, hatred, and violence. So when choosing music to listen, you should use your power of reason to make choices. Do not just blindly go along with what is popular or has a good sound.

“Safeguard your heart, for out of it are the sources of life.” (Proverbs 4:23) Your choice of music is more than just a window into your mind and heart revealing facets of the inner person. It can influence your mind and heart.

Why are you so moved by music? Tell me, by commenting…

Tinago Falls| the Hidden Wonder of Iligan City

of the hidden treasure is qt awesome. I visited

The word “Tinago” comes from the local dialect which means “hidden” which describes how this falls being hidden below the forested deep part of a mountain between the boundaries of the Municipality of Linamon and Brgy. Ditucalan of the City of Iligan. This hidden treasure is one among the numerous waterfalls in Iligan City, the very reason it is called “The Majestic City of Waterfalls."

The first visit I had in this falls is right after I graduated my secondary education. Kuya Jay-ar took me to this place as his gift for my graduation. It was an amazing experience, because I didn’t expect he will think of taking me to this place. When we arrived at the bottom, there was this amazing rainbow that seems thirsty because it really ends inside and in the middle of the falls that looks like sipping the water. I was even amazed because I am aware of the old stories that at the end of the rainbow there was this pot of gold. Whether true or just imagination I wouldn't dare to find out…the water is so cold, I wouldn’t dare to dive and claim it.

The second time I visited the place was during the visit of my special someone.
I thought of taking him into this place, because basically he loves swimming. Yes, it made him happy. He swam back and forth and really enjoyed it.

On the other hand, when going to the falls, you can take a "habal-habal" a single motorcycle which can accommodate up to three to four persons at one travel. Another option, is if you can get a chartered van or jeep.

The third time I visited the place is when the Iligan Bloggers Society organized a familiarization tour for the bloggers. This time was a different visit because in this event I really had the courage to swim and play with the water. The coldness of the breeze that kisses your cheeks when you get near the falls really shivers your bones. The very reason why in my past two visits I did not swim.

Basically, it is called tinago because its hidden in such a way that anyone will really find it difficult to get near the falls before it was developed and stairs were constructed. This wondrous creation of beauty invited local tourist from different cities across the country as well as tourist from the other countries.

This was the water fall where Sam Milby and KC Conception shoot their movie “Forever and a Day.”

MSU-IIT| PALAKASAN|"NIGHT OF SONGS"

August 28, 2011 the date set for the Night of Songs of MSU-IIT's PALAKASAN 2011. Too bad for me I was late for the event. I didn't make it on time and the program started. When I arrived, it was the last performer of the Choral Singing Contest.

The College of Arts and Social Sciences was the last performer. I was lucky though to caught their performance on video. Here it is...enjoy!

Part I

Part II

Right after the Choral Singing Contest, it was followed by the Vocal Trio Singing Contest and here are the College's presenters.

It starts with the ladies from the College of Engineering (COE) performing their rendition of Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You".
Tell me, is it because of them that the crowd was happy, or is it because of them that the crowd felt sleepy?
Here is the video.

Then, the performers from the School of Engineering Technology (SET) with their version of  Alicia Keys "If I Ain't Got You"

I love the song, but I was a bit disappointed with how they sang it. What you think about their performance? I believe, they lack practice and also the confidence, and timing :(

Next, a version of Bridge Over Troubled Water, by the College of Education and Integrated Developmental School (CED-IDS). I want to say "Power Voices" hmmm they co-equally have gorgeous husky voice and looks? will you agree?

When I heard these ladies singing...I was wondering if I heard it right... It seems that they are a duplication of my favorite singers the "La Diva" of Party Pilipinas? Oh! not really, because they are from the College of Nursing (CON) and I am watching the Night of Songs...but their blending is awesome though...their performance is what I considered the "BEST" during the night. A very pleasant rendition of the song "Angels Brought Me Here". I love it!

Oh! I was shocked when these guys came out from stage. I thought I knew one of them...and I was not wrong. They are from College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) and the guy I am referring to is the one in the middle, his name is Kevin...He is small but his voice is big and for a while I heard many fans have shouted in awe of his voice...the downside of this performance is that the guy in the left seemed having trouble in releasing his voice, maybe he is out of breath because of tension. Anyway, here is Kevin and the group for a very good rendition of the song "Rolling in the Deep".

Here comes another group with a dramatic song "Broken Vow" from the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA). Their performance is not bad, except that their acting is not so convincing and its obvious that they are struggling hitting the note.

The first thought I had in mind when these three sexy ladies came out on stage is the song "Nobody" by Wonder Girls. To my dismay it is not! They are from the School of Computer Studies (SCS) and will be performing "Candy Man"...a song that I don't like much...I believe the piece is not appropriate for the type of contest they are into.

Whew! the other crowd favorite during the night. Maybe because these three boys are from the artistic College no other than the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS). Not so familiar with the song they sang. But every time these guys hit the note. Every one screams. Well, girls you know with crushes maybe :) can't blame them, puberty stage and yes these youngsters are a cutie...undeniably!

I hope you enjoy reading and listening to the music made by the students of MSU-IIT...a world class institution...renowned not only in Science and Technology but also in singing...agree? Definitely!

ILIGAN CITY|CENTENNIAL PARK|

Are you looking for that perfect spot to watch the sunset in Iligan City?

Then, Centennial Park at the coastline of the National Highway at Dalipuga,  may be the best place for you to visit.

The coastline has a lot of Talisay trees that will shed you from the bright shining sun. You can bring with you the whole family and have a picnic under these trees.

Why not swim? the water is free. May be you may find starfishes and sea shells along the shore. I am sure your little one's will be amazed with it...but take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints...

Along the shoreline also are different types and shapes of stones (dead corals) that you maybe get fascinated with, just like me :) This thing really intrigues me. How come it has a lot of holes just like real eyes.

You may like to take pictures of it just like what I did and my friend Lovete :)

Oh! is the sun have set already?
Gutom na ka bai? Then, dine at Hoyohoy Restaurant located just nearby the park. They serves local delicacies that I am sure you will be satisfied. Have tried their pancit guisado and lumpia and I love it hmmm.

I do remember my childhood, looking at these group of little one's  playing along the shore. When I was younger, I had the opportunity to play like these children, since this is what I love most during my childhood.

What you might do in such a romantic place if you tag along your lover? Hmmm...I can tell, but never mind :))
Just enjoy the photos of these lovers, that maybe enjoying more in each others company rather than enjoying the romantic setting of the sun.

PinayTravelista is enjoying herself trying to catch and hold the sun with her own bare hand.

This lovers...hmmm...quarreling? I don't think so...may be just playing around...

If you get tired and felt that your butt is aching or in pain while sitting in a very hard cemented edge of the rip-rap of the park then you can spread a cloth and lay on these green grass. I am sure you'll feel comfortable.

Along the high way, there are little sari-sari store that sells, soft-drinks, mineral water, and etc., and oh! by the way, do you  love to sing at Karaoke Bar? These little stalls also has a videoke machines. It will just costs you five pesos and you can sing two of your favorite songs.
